Queensland’s Biofutures

The Queensland Government has a vision for a $1 Billion sustainable and export-oriented industrial biotechnology and bioproducts sector.

The Queensland Biofutures 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan sets out a pathway to achieve this goal.  The action plan includes the Biofutures Acceleration Program, which has the specific aim to attract and support the development of new biorefinery projects within Queensland.

Request for Information

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to invite the views of all interested parties about development opportunities and challenges, and options for the State to accelerate development proposals. 

The RFI will enhance the state’s understanding of:

• the depth and maturity of the biorefining industry
• biorefining industry supply chain opportunities and challenges
• experiences of proponents in developing biofutures projects
• the relative importance of demand side drivers
• views on actions the government might take to accelerate the development of a biorefining industry.

The Queensland Government intends to commence a competitive selection process for development proposals that would benefit from the Biofutures Acceleration Program.

Responses to this Request for Information will be used to inform the future stages of the Biofutures Acceleration Program.  Responses will not be used in any evaluation process.
